Ankle Sprain

An ankle sprain is an injury to one or more ligaments in the ankle, usually on the outside of the ankle. In the ankle joint, ligaments provide stability by limiting side-to-side movement.

The symptoms of ankle sprains may include:

  • Pain or soreness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Difficulty walking
  • Stiffness in the joint

These symptoms may vary in intensity, which is dependent on how severe the sprain is and how much the tendons have been stretched. Sometimes pain and swelling are absent in people with previous ankle sprains. Some people affected simply feel instability or wobbliness in their ankle. Regardless, a sprained ankle is not something to avoid treating, and can get worse if not properly diagnosed and given appropriate treatment.

Premier Foot and Ankle Care can quickly evaluate your ankle sprain and provide the proper care and treatment program necessary to get that ankle healthy again.
